Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker on Monday announced the appointment of Melissa Scott, a city IT director and project manager, as the city\u2019s next chief information officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott, who began with the City of Philadelphia in 2015 as an IT director and project manager, is tasked with leading the Office of Innovation and Technology\u2019s strategy and initiatives. According to a press release, Scott has experience in software development, infrastructure, security planning and daily operations management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am honored to lead the City\u2019s technology, innovation, and digital access efforts as its Chief Information Officer,\u201d Scott said in the announcement. \u201cI am confident my experience, expertise in IT management and software development, and passion for collaboration will support my ability to lead the Parker Administration\u2019s technology strategy over the next four years.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former city CIO Mark Wheeler<\/a> departed the position last July for a role with the U.S. General Services Administration’s Technology Transformation Services. Philadelphia Chief Operating Officer Sandra Carter served as interim CIO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among her achievements, Scott is credited with leading development and launch of the Philadelphia Office of Licenses and Inspection\u2019s mobile application.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
