Florida has named Warren Sponholtz, who most recently served as deputy chief information security officer at the Florida Digital Service<\/a>, as the state’s new chief information officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sponholtz has served as deputy CISO at the Florida Digital Service<\/a> since 2022, according to his LinkedIn page<\/a>. The Florida Digital Service was established in 2020 to improve service delivery to Floridians through design and technology. Sponholtz fills a role left open last year by the resignation of Jamie Grant<\/a>, who served as CIO for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sponholtz started in state government at the Florida Department of Transportation in 2002, working as a portfolio manager. He served as CIO of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection from 2012 to 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A LinkedIn post<\/a> on the Florida Department of Management Services reads: “As a Marine and former agency CIO, Warren Sponholtz brings the skills and experience to lead cybersecurity, data, and technology innovation. We are excited to have him as the State\u2019s new Chief Information Officer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a job description Sponholtz posted on his LinkedIn profile, he will “drive value for our state and local governments.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By fostering partnerships and building a strong IT community, we can tackle complex challenges and create a more efficient, secure, and innovative government for Florida,” the post continued. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
