Kentucky Chief Information Officer Ruth Day joins the growing list of state IT officials<\/a> leaving their positions at the end of the year, according to a social media post<\/a> by the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We thank Ruth for her exceptional service and wish her well in her next chapter,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gov. Andy Beshear appointed Day to lead the Commonwealth Office of Technology in 2019<\/a>, replacing Chuck Grindle, who, at the time, was the highest-paid state CIO in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThroughout our transition, one of the issues that came up over and over was the Commonwealth Office of Technology,\u201d Beshear said during her nomination<\/a>. \u201cI believe we have significant and serious problems both in the office and its provision of services to our cabinets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her five-year tenure, Day helped administer IT services for the state and lead the KentuckyWired program<\/a>, a statewide project to deploy high-speed fiber optic infrastructure to every Kentucky county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day previously served as an executive at Landstar Systems, a transportation services company focused on logistics, where she managed acquisitions, system integrations and IT infrastructure modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruth joins three other state chief information officers who announced this week they’re leaving their positions. These include North Carolina CIO Jim Weaver<\/a>, Indiana CIO Tracy Barnes<\/a> and Tennessee CIO Stephanie Dedmon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
